I highly recommend reading the concise, informative, and brief book review in
this month's (January 1993) _Art in America_.

a.) It explains an historical position of the critic.
b.) It explains the conflict of taste or the mythical common sensibility
and law with art.
c.) Editorial and historical perspective on sexuality expressed in art.
