STATISTICAL GRAPHICS How to interpret, present, and design statistical
graphics for data analysis; production techniques; advanced techniques
for envisioning information.
INFORMATION DESIGN The world is complex, dynamic, multidimensional;
the paper is static, flat. How are we to represent the rich world of
experience and measurement on mere flatland? To envision information
is to work at the intersection of image, word, number, art. The
instruments are those of writing and typography, or managing large data
sets and statistical analysis, on line and layout and color.
SCIENTIFIC VISUALIZATION Use of sound and motion to add additional
dimensions to information displays. Evaluation of various supercomputer
scientific animations. Sources of dequantification; use of color;
sequencing; integration of text and image. Design of computer
interfaces.
This workshop is sponsored by the
