The Fort Devens military base in Massachusetts is due to close in 1994.

The Boston Society of Architects is planning a charrette (intensive design
workshop) for 4 days in April to make recommendations and create visions for
sustainable development of the base.

I am working with a group of graduate students who are doing research to help
charrette participants think about the criteria for sustainability they should
address. We are particularly interested in the community aspect of sustainable
development: economic, participation, etc...., although we're trying to
connect environmental and community issues.

We are currently collecting resources on sustainable development for
communities, and on military conversion. We are also trying to figure out what
are the RIGHT QUESTIONS that we should be asking to prepare this report.

If you have any suggestions, resources, etc... please respond.

Thank you very much.
