Georg Heimdal comments that the USA didn't participate in
the colonial expansion of the Western European countries.
However the USA is a very parochial country and this
could well engender a similar "big world" picture. Indeed
the USA now describe themselves as the "police of the
world" in reference to their military actions in Iraq, Grenada
Panama, Somalia, etc...
Maybe the important thing to keep in mind is that the USA
came into the picture too late (after the world had ben
already sliced up) to excercise their colonialist ambitions.
