Yeah, I have some thoughts on the "famed" Art Institute of Chicago. Arrogant.
How about that? They do nothing for the local artists. (And this is not sour
grapes, mind you. They own my work.) They pay more to collect a little
money at the door than they take in...and this is to keep "certain people"
out. The institution "belongs" to the aristocracy, and they want to keep it
that way. That is why there is such a hue and cry over public funding of the
arts. Obsenity is a cover. The real issue is who owns those institutions.
And all of those wonderful Impressionists works. How did they come to be
in Chicago? Spoils of war? Enough...there is more, but enough!
