i am on this list. i was not insulted. where does the injury of the
insult stem from?
i have 12 years experience in computing and am paid well. i have MANY
people ask me MANY questions MANY times MANY places about computing issues.
i really couldn't imagine thinking that the one who inquires should go
"hire a computer consultant" (naturally, extensive questions, etc. DO
require consultations beyond simple comments) Simple comments and thoughts
and helpful "hints/tips" are what most people are seeking when they inquire
about certain things. i don't think the woman had improper intentions.
no one on the list is going to voluntarily spend mega hours offering
solutions (that in fact would deserve the $$$). BUT basic respect and
genuine interest and commaraderie seem to be what the "net" is all about.
my 2 cents.
