Dear OSEASNet Members:

If you have advisees or colleagues who are art librarians, the following travel
grant information could be quite useful:

The Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) offers a travel grant to
an art librarian anywhere outside North America ($1,000) or to an art librarian
in Latin America ($500) to attend its annual conference -- art librarians in
Latin America, therefore, actually have two chances. The next ARLIS/NA
conference is being held in Providence, Rhode Island from 10-17 February 1994.
The first grant is known as the Leonce Laget Travel Award and is open to all
information professionals who share an interest in the visual arts,
architecture, and design, including archivists, visual resources curators, and
museum and academic librarians. The second grant is known as the Karno Award
and is open to librarians working in the visual arts, architecture, and design.

To apply one must present: 1) a letter of application (one page maximum)
stating interests in and expectations for the ARLIS/NA conference, 2) a resume
listing educational background and professional experience and activities
(including fax number when available), and 3) names of two references, giving
address, phone and fax numbers.

Applications must be postmarked no later than 1 November 1993 and should be
sent to:
Susan Wyngaard, Chair
ARLIS/NA Travel Award Committee
Fine Arts Library, Ohio State University
Wexner Center for the Arts
Columbus, Ohio 43210
Phone: 614-292-6184
Fax: 614-292-7859

Award winners will be notified by 15 December 1993. Awards are presented
during the opening ceremonies of the conference. Recipients are expected to
submit a post-conference report.

Regards,
Ted Riedinger
