In regards to cats, my cats are always trying to mess up my watercolors. If
I leave the door open, they will always come in, sneak up behind me, and jump
right into the tray of fresh paint! If they attack as a team, it's rare that
my painting will remain unblemished. I've often thought of purposely letting
them run through my fresh paint and onto a clean sheet. What a perfect way to
build something from abstract images! I probably couldn't do it because
they would lick their painted paws and then I would have no cats.

Anyway, what might be some other ways to create some abstraction to build
upon?? I have taken old watercolors that didn't quite make it, torn them
up, picked pieces randomly and glued them on another sheet. I then try to
focus on a particular area and fill a clean sheet with that image. I found
that the challenging task is to stare at your newly painted sheet and pull
basic forms or images from the shapes and colors and create from that point.

Stare at your paper for an hour and then try and balance your checkbook! Ouch!
