the current artistic creation of the thirth world countries and
its relation with the rest of the world, the reflections will
lead to the current society universal problems, which
expression, on the metioned regions, aquire special
dimensions.

By selecting the reflection themes, we take into account the
existence of specific problems inside each thirth world
country, and the fact that artists from this countries, by
moving to highly developed countries expres on its works some
of that new problems and some even new starting on the
relationship with other contexts.

The QUINTA BIENAL DE LA HABANA wish to facilitate a wide debate
on the role of art on today's world and the factors that favor
or stop its authentic development. On that sense, it has been
structured on a way that permit the exchange between critics,
contemporary art museum directors, international exposition
curators, art journal directors, art gallery personal,
collectionists and the general public and has been conceived as
an interrelation process between the expositions and critic
workshops.

The BIENAL will be made by expositions and workshops where, by
the point of view of the thirth world countries, will be
discussed part of the problems afecting or stopping a better
understanding of its artistic creation.
