A Recent flame by some frustated engineering student serves to
remind us that, in the real world, we are going to encounter more and more
personalities not unlike him. These paper pushers believe just because
they know how to derive parallel axis theorem, they are better than
architects, or everyone else for that matter.

In a previous article, cvacsgrg@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx wrote:

In other words, you're saying that art historians (who believe that Corbu
was one of the most important arch. of all times) are in a conspiracy to
defraud us all. That in reality, Corbu, you believe, is just a moron who
didn't know what he was doing. Well, I don't like his style and arrogance
either. True, many of his buildings don't work and cost too much to build,
but they were, and still are, influential nonetheless. Dismissing his work
as useless and insignificant shows me that you need to take more liberal
arts courses to open up that provincial mind of yours.

: Looking nice is one thing, but FUNCTIONING is another. You architects
: better

Hmm, there are millions of aesthetically and functionally beautiful
buildings out there, and don't you ever forget: THEY ARE DESIGNED BY
ARCHITECTS!! I'm not so sure engineers can design a functionally complex
building. I, for one, would question the viability of a hospital designed
by engineers. Just because one architect (in this case, Corbu) fail to
design a working building doesn't mean all architects do. Architects come
in all sizes and shapes, some put function ahead of aesthetic
considerations, and vice versa. Don't they ever teach that in school?

: wake up and look at the world around you, The World of the Engineer.

Yes, I woke a up long time ago, and I'm glad I did. This "World of the
Engineer" is so stifling and regimented, which explain why engineering
schools keep producing a bunch of calculator-punching-narrow-minded
engineers like you, year after year.

There... I know I'm not going to change your mind. Nobody changes his or
her mind after reading an article in Netnews. Next time, before you open
your mouth (or send an article) make sure you know what you're talking
about. Start reading something other than engineering books, because
uninformed outburst (eg. your article) only make you really sound like a
lamer.
