OLYMPIC GAMES Electronic Discussion List (Proposal)

Scott Hinterthuer wants an arena and sports facilities discussion here
on the Net, so I am sending this out to Design-l for discussion.

Scott, and others, if you would like to suggest a campus site for this List
(ask your Computer Services / Admin how to set up and co-own), your
'fascination with arenas and sports facilities', etc. is most appropriate
... so if anyone would like to help get us started, please reply to my
address at the bottom of this message. Thanks -- Mel.

OLYMPIC GAMES Electronic Discussion List (Proposal)

I wish to create a new electronic Discussion List, OLYMPICS, and seek
support from a potential suitable host-campus, who can offer facilities
for both Listserv and INDEXING, and for someone from that site
who may wish to act as List co-owner and technical facilitator?

Following is the preliminary list-descriptor - suggestions for
possible inclusion can be sent to me (see email address below):

OLYMPICS - A List for Discussion and Research into the Summer
& Winter Olympic Games, and other International Sporting Events
(such as the Commonwealth, Masters, etc. Games), and their
Organizing Committees (at International and National levels).
The List will encourage individual and national development of
global good citizenship and co-operative evolution, through
these global cultural and sporting initiatives.

The List will also help facilitate informal discourse and
development of communications between various levels of personnel
among participating Sporting Organisation & Management Committees,
plus between the Sporting Committees, and researchers involved
with present and future Olympics planning and organisation,
eg. between the OLYMPICS '96 in Atlanta and Athens [Georgia],
OLYMPICS '2000 in Sydney, and elsewhere.

Individuals and representatives of various sporting associations,
teams and groups will be able to discuss their concerns and
objectives, and ways to co-work internationally to assist
development of various aspects of the Games and their venues,
including comprehensive email-access sites at all Games venues
for the use of administrators, researchers, the media, athletes,
coaches and sporting bodies.

Please forward this information to other Lists and individuals which may
be interested. And please, contact me directly if you can help, or wish
to contribute ideas, expertise, information, etc. DO NOT REPLY DIRECTLY
TO THE LIST WHICH IS PUBLISHING THE INFORMATION - I MAY NOT SEE IT.
Thanks,

Melcir Erskine-Richmond (merskine@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)
