Another point about the board and batten system is that Wright developed a
system whereby the boards and battens had interlocking grooves and I think only
the battens were fastened to the plywood. The boards and battens were flush on
the plywood side, with the battens being slightly thicker so that they stick out
beyond the boards, as opposed to traditional system where the battens run on top
of the boards covering the joints. You can see the system mocked up at the MOMA
