LOOKING FOR RESEARCH PARTNERS
to build an integrated design tool for conceptualizing user interfaces (for
consumer electronic products)

At the our Faculty, we are investigating new tools and techniques to aid
designers in the creative process of product development. One of our focus
areas is a design tool for developing interactive user interfaces for
digital products like smart phones, VCRs, CD-ROMS, office equipment etc. We
envisage a tool for making quick screen demos, product simulations with
limited functionality and documentation for implementation. The tool is
specifically oriented towards designers from background of graphic arts,
animation or industrial design who do not have knowledge of programming or
scripting languages.

We are looking for potential partners from Universities or Companies who
would like to collaborate with us in jointly building the tool. Our
strength is primarily in interaction design, industrial design and human
factors and we would like to team up with those from background of software
development.

If you are interested, we can meet and talk about it during CHI. Please
leave a message on the board for KOLLI or get in touch with us:

NEWS FROM STAFFORDSHIRE UNIVERSITY

The Women's Photography Project at Staffordshire
University is currently undertaking research into the
work of Contemporary British Women Photographers
and Writers on Photography.

The project aims to:
* Research and establish an Archive of Women
Photographers and Writers on Photography
* Curate two Exhibitions from the work submitted to the Archive
* Host a Weekend Event for Women Photographers, Curators,
Administrators and Writers
* Publish a book on the work of Women Photographers and
Writings on Photography selected from the Archive

The launch of this project coincides with 'Signals:
Festival of Women Photographers', an initiative
coordinating over 300 events and exhibitions throughout
the UK in September and October 1994.

To date the Archive has attracted over 120 submissions
from women photographers and writers on photography. Its
aim is to provide a national and international resource
which will be used to promote and exhibit women's
photography, develop educational events such as seminars
and workshops, publish women's photography and help to
create national and international networks.

The Archive will be officially launched on the 9th of
September at 'Between Ourselves: A Weekend Celebrating
Women's Photography'. This international event will programme
a host of workshops, lectures, seminars, discussions and
sharing of work, attracting a large number of practitioners
as well as curators and administrators.

The project is keen to hear of any similar projects or
research being undertaken anywhere in the world. We are
particularly anxious to secure funding to continue the
project and would welcome helpful ideas and information.

The Women's Photography Project will continue to seek and
accept submissions to the Archive. For further information
on this and details of 'Between Ourselves' and the Exhibitions,
please contact:
