Greetings.
I just joined this list and wonder if someone can enlighten
me about a project I've had on my mind for some time.
I want to make some three dimensional cardboard copies of
several pieces of vernacular architecture. I want to be
historically accurate, which means using exact representations
of corporate logos. For instance, if I made a Union 76 gas
station, I will use the Union 76 logo, too. Well, am I
violating some kind of copyright here? Can I be sued by the
company? Am I okay if I do this as an art object to be
publicly displayed (such as in a library)? But what if I
want to print thousands of these as do-it-yourself kits
and sell them to people who might want to reconstruct my
art? Can I get in trouble? Will someone help me sort this
mess out? Thank you.
