There is a "rails to trails" project in Maryland near Sugarloaf Mountain that
became controversial last summer. The trail would have run through a small
town and connect to areas close to Washington D.C. Residents of the town were
afraid that the trail would bring a "yuppie" element from the city and ruin th
e intimacy of their town. The project was written up in the Washington Post.
