Position Announcement


Position: Sculpture/Foundation Design - 2-D,
3-D/Drawing and/or Gallery/Painting


Rank: Assistant Professor

Appointment: Full time; Tenure Track

Salary: $27,000-$28,000 (negotiable)

Starting Date: January, 1995

Assignment: The teaching assignment will include two
sculpture classes along with the
improvement and maintenance of existing
facilities and the foundry. The applicant
should possess experiences in a wide range
of techniques and materials from traditional
to contemporary and should be prepared to
deal with students from freshmen to graduate
level. In addition, the assignment will
include two classes per year in the
foundations program teaching 2 or 3 D
design.
Additional assignment, may include drawing;
painting; or Gallery Directorship, and is
dependant upon applicant's qualifications.
Student advising, supervision of graduate
students, shop and classroom maintenance,
and office hours will be part of this
position. Office space is provided and
studio space available in classroom studio.
The Gallery Directorship carries a one
course reduction in load.

Qualifications: MFA in Sculpture. A working commitment to
design, drawing, and color. College level
teaching experience preferred. Solid and
growing exhibition record. An active,
creative presence in the Art Department
will be expected from the individual in
this position.

General Informantion: The Art department is organized to
offer a B.A. in Art, B.F.A. in Art and
M.F.A.in Painting, Drawing, Sculpture,
Ceramics, Metals, Fibers, and Printmaking.
The department is presently composed of
approximately 90 majors with 7 full time
and one half-time faculty.

Idaho State University: Idaho State University is a

in the health professions and is committed
to maintaining a strong liberal arts
program as the basis for their academic

a letter of application; resume; list of
three references and three letters of
recommendation; no more than 30 slides
representing sculpture, design; drawing,
(painting, if qualified) 10-20 slides of
student work preferred; slide lists;
self-addressed, stamped, return envelope.
List of gallery experience if applying for
directorship.
