ECAADE (Education in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe)
1994 CONFERENCE to be held at the
University of Strathclyde, Department of Architecture and Building Science

The 12th European Conference
THE VIRTUAL STUDIO
7 - 10 September 1994

THE EVENT

The ABACUS and CADET Groups in the University of Strathclyde will host the
12th ECAADE Annual Conference.

Glasgow - the European City of Culture in 1990 - is the most complete city
of Victorian architecture in the UK and is rich in the works of Charles
Rennie Mackintosh and Alexander 'Greek' Thomson. It is currently in the
exciting throes of regeneration.

The ECAADE Conference, extending from 7th to 10th September follows
immediately from the EAAE Workshop on the theme 'At the Edge' which takes
place from 4th to the 7th September.

Both Conferences will be hosted in the city centre campus of the University
of Strathclyde with excellent and inexpensive accommodation provided on
site by the Scottish Graduate Business School.

A Civic Reception in Glasgow's City Chambers is scheduled for the evening
of Wednesday 7th September following a number of Architectural Tours of the
city's rich architectural heritage.

THE THEME

The Conference - THE VIRTUAL STUDIO - will seek to recount the short but
dramatic history of CAAD in Education, take stock of the current
educational environment and anticipate what the next decade will offer to
students and teachers.

Papers will deal with issues of both form and function and it is intended
that discussion will address the critical issue of integrated
multi-disciplinary approach to architectural design and architectural
education.

THE PROGRAMME

The main part of the Conference Programme will include around 70
presentations divided into 10 Sessions. Within each Session there will be
three 20 minute full presentations and five 5-minute "blitz: presentations.

There will also be four invited papers from internationally renowned CAD
experts.

All abstracts and papers will be published in the conference proceedings -
ISBN 0 9523687 0 6.
