Ray Lauzzana seems to understand work that invokes "traditional"
aesthetics as nothing more than mere pattern work, Invoking tradition
and continuity in a work is as delicate an operation as any other in
design and so it is often poorly done. I seem to remember a pre-xerox
palladian "copy" by Lord Burlington that was both timely and traditional.
