I totally agree with Mark <darrall>? His interpretation of Rietveld is to my
mind absolutely correct. THe building is most certainly an abstraction of
space. Not a construction of materials. Though usually, not discussed in any
depth in the literature the planning and the built-ins are quite rematrkable.
This must be a building on anyone's list who is concerned with construction
using minimum materials. For all the discussion of Calvinist austerity, I
am sure that life withing the house was very pleasent.

By the way, I did not know about the relationship with Wright. When did this
occur? Is theere any documents regarding their exchanges? I can't remember any
discussion of Wright in De Stijl.
