Re: Do You Know What an Architect REALLY Does?

Mike,
I think it wouldn't hurt to roll back design---some. There's plenty of room
in a B. Arch. program for more practice-related courses, and it needn't come
at the expense of exploration and thinking.

Some advocate a 7 year apprenticeship; some say the M.Arch should be the
first professional degree. I'm not sure which I'd prefer---I'll already be
38 when I get my B. Arch.; I don't know if I can wait that much longer to
get my license!

I've noticed that you and Robert have mentioned that interns typically
learn these practice skills. Some recent things I've seen (esp. last
month's P/A) suggest that most do not, and that IDP isn't always
working the way it should. Not to mention intern abuse....
