Non-profit architecture

There are community design centers scattered around the country doing
projects many firms don't want to touch (or can't afford to). Also, I have
known many firms that have operated on a no-profit or low-profit basis, in
order to get something built. There *is* a basic problem, related to our
"free market" economy, of not wanting (or being able) to compete with
"for profit" offices. That's one reason educational institutions stay out
of the design business.
