It also feeds the schools' constant need to "be more useful," i.e. find new
products to "sell." The ACSA is now talking about standardization of the
Doctor of Architecture degree as the first professional degree, taken
following receipt of a BA or BS.

On the salary issue, it would be interesting to catalog starting salaries
around the US for recent arch graduates. Here in Knoxville, Tenn. they're
running about $17,000. (What are recent law graduates getting?)
