Re: Value of a contemporary architectural education

Here, Hear to Wayde Justin Tardif's comments!!!!

If the profession wants to dictate the contents of architetcural education
then it had better provide good paying jobs for graduates. This is the
least that it could do.

Architecture is a lot, A LOT, more than design. By to a large extent it
is the guardian of the idea of design. More so than engineering, more
so than the fine arts, and even more than the applied arts. The demands
of conceptualizing, planning, detailing and realizing a design are not
trivial in anyway. It is this discipline of process, its incorporation
of a multitude of talents and technologies which makes architecture a
subject worthy of study. To me, this is a at the center of architecture,
even more than the notion of "shelter". And this is why architecture
will always continue to be a relevant subject of study.
