The comments from Geoff M Langdon related to MArch and BArch degrees are
right on the mark. Unfortunately, the MArch degree usually is not truly a
graduate degree. Most MArch program do not build upon a strong liberal art
educational foundation, nor do they offer any focus or in depth exposure.
Although I teach in an undergraduate program, after thrity years I am
returning to my initial commitment of graduate level architectural
education. However, I while I feel that we should be seriously moving into
this mode, at least the BArch programs do not confuse the issue by assuming
the cloak of graduate education.
