Re: Degrees

While I support the notion of moving architectural studies to the graduate
level, I also agree with Garry Stevens" recent criticism of the degree
inflation that is apparently being encourage by this move.

My reason for shifting to graduate level (not the doctorate level,
especially not PhD) as the initial professional degree is that architecture
can only be effectively pursued based on a broad general education, which
unfortunately is not readily available through our US secondary schools and
the occasional elective courses provided within the undergraduate BArch
programs or even the 4 plus 2 MArch programs.

If degree inflation exists, I would contend that the 4 plus 2 MArch is the
clear example.
