Japanese Architecture

Does anyone know of any sources (modern or ancient) I can turn to relating
to Japanese architectural theory? What I'm looking for is something which
discusses the relationships of form, nature, and human interaction that is
not presented as a history lesson or picture book, but as philosophy.
Religious texts are helpful, but I'm looking for those which focus more on
architecture. I'd also be interested in Chinese and other Eastern ideas on
architecture if anyone has any information about them.

Thanks,
Tom
