Artistic eccentricities aside, Hemingway and Wright are forever linked in history by this town filled with creative power. The pair was part of Oak Park's Turn of the Century birth of an artistic, educational and business movement that helped shaped American culture.
McDonald's founder Ray Kroc (1902-2003), psychologist Carl Rogers (1902-1987), dancer/choreographer Doris Batcheller Humphrey (1895-1958) and American novelist Edgar Rice Burroughs, who created Tarzan were all born in Oak Park.
