The international scientific conference "Sultan Sanjar and his era" was initiated by Turkmen President Saparmurat Niyazov in order, as a relevant decree says, "to conduct the in-depth scientific research of the Seljuk state history that not only left an indelible mark on history of the Turkmen people and its statehood but also made an invaluable contribution to the development of world culture, having enriched it with achievements in the field of state building, economic and military development, in the sphere of science, architecture, education and art."
