The Indianapolis Museum of Art holds collections spanning the range and scope of art history, with significant collections of African, American, Asian, European, contemporary and decorative art, including paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, photographs, textiles and costumes. The Museum presents a broad range of special exhibitions throughout the year and offers extensive educational and community programming for all age groups, including a summer film and concert series, children's and teens' art camps and classes, and adult art classes.

Oldfields-Lilly House & Gardens is the former home and 26-acre estate of the late Indianapolis businessman and philanthropist J.K. Lilly Jr. Lilly House, the elegant three-story mansion and centerpiece of the estate, is a historic house museum of the American Country Place era. The estate's beautiful landscape was designed by Percival Gallagher of the famous landscape architecture firm Olmsted Brothers-the same firm that designed New York's Central POlmsteadark and Chicago's Lincoln Park. The Oldfields estate is a National Historic Landmark.

The IMA, located at 4000 Michigan Road, the corner of 38th Street and Michigan Road, is open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Gardens and grounds are open daily from dawn until dusk. The IMA is closed Mondays, Tuesdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's days.

Due to construction, a limited number of Museum galleries are open in 2004. The Museum will be closed from January 3 through May 5, 2005, and Lilly House will remain open during this period. The expanded Museum will open May 6, 2005, and its permanent collection galleries will gradually open over an 18-month period. For more information, call 317-923-1331.
