[design] guthrie decon

i am not sure if these were the last photos i took
of the guthrie theater under construction in MPLS,
though it was at this point that i started to really
like the building and wished it would not be finished
and left skeletal. now it is cobalt blue with metal
panels (i think that's what they are) and the one
thing that does really work (in my opinion) is the
massing is just right for the large urban space,
and although i thought the building would be better
to be the color of all the rest (personal opinion)
the darker color does add depth and range and it
may liven up the place. it is to have an LED sign
too, i think. i am living nearby this place and
will get more photos as it is completed. there is
a giant cantilever over the river's edge, and while
i do not think the concept really works (simulation
of industrial buildings, next to actual ruins of
earlier mills) it does add drama to the urban stage.
