[design] guthrie theater photos

some small (compressed) photos of the newly
relocated guthrie theater going up on the banks
of the Mississippi River in downtown Minneapolis
by architect Jean Nouvel. i was planning to take
a close-up photo of the hemisphere on the right,
as it is a poured concrete semicircular theater
with steps that can be seen underneath, as if
a bunt-cake pan, and it is seemingly rapidly
being closed in though it is quite stunning
to see. also, the slender columns seem to defy
the amount of volume being held up. though the
big 'moment' is quite obvious in seeing how
the cantilever extends over the frontage road
towards the river...

here's a view from the Stone Arch bridge, with the Mill City
Museum next to the theater... (embedded in the ruins)

here's a sculpture on the other side of the river, a series
of buildings looking like they were sculpted in clay and
then cast in bronze, then affixed to brick pedestals.
they are a bit quirky though i like the idea, and it
seems somebody else did too, as they stole one off
the base. a dozen or so remain along a stretch of
sidewalks. it is adds detail to a walking district.
