as howard taught us, it's not what's written in the signature line, but what is written in the body of the message.

the best word there, i think, is 'open' which howard's list was not. i interpret that as meaning: there is no 'ownership' of this list; that it is both open to all, and open to all ideas.

in fact, one of the great put offs of the internet - i remember this vividly when i started using it back in the early 90s - was the term 'list owner'. maybe that's why i don't like blogs - i always feel like i'm someone's guest and have to behave ...
