Re: [design] GZ eyeballed {intermission}

Its a curious thing the perspective from space. I wonder whether cartography in some senses already limned this perspective in a way that makes in not symbolic but only directional? That fact that google maps show shadows should put the lie to that might beside the point. Maybe shadows for us are as the leaping dolphins and poseidon for mercator et al?

this is a profound occurrence and technology as
more people begin to visualize with these new perspectives.
Although it does seem that those whose eyes are trained
to see this kind of symbology - as Brian has so eloquently
rendered the new world trade center/phallus and its associated two
voids - are a relatively
small number. Will that number increase with the new technology or will much of architectural typology remain an obscure secret? Does content in architecture 101 apply
to the resulting design that will never be understood by
anyone except those trained to look for these type of symbols
(which leaves out most of the population). i totally agree that the new wtc is not in keeping with the integrity
of where we should be, symbolically, materially, etc. and its great
fun looking at the ridiculous mistake that has a good chance of
being made (with the design's resemblence). my hope would be that the majority of people seeing it would understand the
architectural language of it. alas, the state of visual literacy in the world is very low. The world, for the most part, is both culturally
and visually illiterate. People are too busy making a living to consume
to bother to learn the meaning of their own culture, let alone the cultures
of the world. Seeing the wtc plans for what they really are seems
a distance wish!
