[design] WTC Memorial Park (memorials 1 & 2)

this 96k file is a watercolor/rendering of a
perspective sketch, looking out from one of the
footprints towards the other footprint and their
inside/outside, footprint/icon relationships and
symbolism. the reflecting pool is transparent and
a cubic volume would go down for several stories
by way of an inversion of the original facades/
curtain wall of the WTC with mullions, etc as
a screen, into a meditative space with the bronze
sculpture that was found after the collapsed
towers, to be smashed though still intact. it
would function as if a meteorite of that day,
and would create a narrative structure for that
ties into mythology, etc. this is an acropolis-
like view, maybe it could be considered in a
sense parthenon-like, which is the idea, to
bring in the world axis of these places, as
with stonehenge, and relate to what exists.

the idea with footprint 1 memorial is the footprint and volume.
the footprint can be walked, it becomes a balcony at its furthest
edge, and returns to the inside. below this there is an access from
the park itself, which enters into the cubic volume. this view would
be from the uppermost floor of the site, with a reflecting pool in
which people below could see those above, and vice versa, as if
people in the building (if mirroring reflections were correct)
so that people would be 'beyond' the building, as if ghosts or
angels, in another dimension. inside/outside, up/down/across,
navigating the reenactment of a WTC experience via stairwells
with statues of persons going up and down, in bronze, plaster,
fire fighters kneeling to help someone. maybe pieces of office
here and there, a cubicle, etc. elevators could transport from
one level to the next, to look out the internal screen to see
others looking out, moving around, up down around, a maze of
choices, to remember the choices and none were good, and yet
to see beyond, the life that occupies, and the sound of feet
and whispers in a grand space, a meteorite now with the earth.
exit/entries in park, atop park, internally within building
on several levels, a building within a building (like that
of Tschumi's town within a warehouse, or Rem's infrastructure
scale) which would have an outside inside a larger building
(i.e., this cubic volume rests inside the park's site plan).
to clarify, here's another drawing of the cube in the park:
