Quick question which seems at the heart of your letter: why do you mention
creativity? I can't remember Heidegger ever referring to it or explaining
it... Was that your point? Unless there exists somewhere in his corpus an
explanation to shed light on Dasein's authentic embrace of the World's
possibilities, perhaps the place of creativity, whatever that might mean to
him, would lie in this: perhaps Dasein can only authentically embrace das
Man's possibilities if he takes a 'creative' view of his place within the
world. This is my speculation. The only time I recall a mention of
creativity is in IM: in speaking of the darkening of the world (IM, p.38),
he mentions the hatred and suspicion of creativity, and the need for
Germany to take a "creative view of its tradition." Could you shed some
light on your question for me? Thanks, Colin.
