RE: eagle or beetle

On desk: Tierseele / Animal soul by Herbert Fritsche
from 1952. A reed. of Animal soul and the secret of creation.

The surprise is in the foreword: Gerhard Nebel - after ww2
private secretary of Ernst Juenger, who himself had studied
biology after ww1 in Naples - tells, in his war memories
of F's book, the 1st ed.

In 1941 Nebel wrote an article for the Neue Rundschau, in which
he disputed the comparison of airplanes to eagles and falcons,
and instead brought them nearer to the flight of insects,
beetles specifically. For that he was brought to a prisoner camp.
In the library he found Fritsche's book, which he considered
to be a good antidote to beetle- and termite science, I mean
science done by termites. F: man should not be explained from
the animal, but the animal from man.
Fritsche too was attacked by strange animals, who teached zoology
at the university. (like the ugly Gould now)

P. 9, and still actual:
"The biology of the last decennium of the 19th century -
the biology therefore of vulgar Darwinism with its assertion,
that man has therefore emerged victoriously from out of the
fight for Dasein by brutal apes, because he was the most
capable gangster of them - now has (rightly) a bad conscience
[eh!], but it suppresses it, and has (successfully) a malignancy
catching the eye when it prostitutes with the powers.

no access to Dasein as long as the fight for Dasein is believed in.
Dasein = knowing LESS.

Already Hoelderlin and Goethe proposed a different course for the
natural sciences.

In a quote Goethe declares that he feels supported by many investigators
who confess that an inscrutable is to be presupposed, but that thereupon
no limits are to be set to investigation.

(the inscrutable is the poetical. without any poetical, science becomes
mere quantitative and whorelike, as it is used now for killing the
good and saving the bad. Often this is called greatness.)
