RE: incubation

Rene and peeps,

I see now how your thinking of incubation from the book on Leibniz not Nietzsche's volcanoe but whatever your moving towards something. The issue clearly is the tragic experience of nihilism and the various ways we avoid coming terms with... ah.... much ado about nothing. In NII on "European Nihilism" Heidegger lays it out clear as mud; "The ESSENCE of nihilism consist in NOT taking the question of the nothing seriously" (chapter titled "NIhilism, Nihil, Nothing). This is 'it' there is nothing else at issue in all of Heidegger's writings. Already in 1928's course on the metaphysical foundations of logic (GA 26) he had 'grounded' freedom(or possibility of willing), being-in-the-world, and transcendence on the for-the-sake-of or a nihil originarium. After this he doesn't just go "Oh I'm wrong and I think I'll change my mind and think in a different way". No, that's not what is going on. He just keeps dwelling with awesome constancy on the ' ' which is neither "is" nor "is not" nor even "neither...nor" until much like Schelling all hell breaks loose and things start to fall apart and he looses his "grip" on any systematic realization of some special truth and just lets it be and forgets it. To go this far is to become naive and very alert for no reason other than just living. When one goes from the GUIDING question of "what is...." in the Contributions to the GROUNDING question one does it only kicking and screaming because it's the most painful and horrible thing in the world. A human being is 99.999999% empty space which is a scientific fact. For all intents and purposes we are nothing. But you know only blind old Europeans can think this is a new thing for all mankind only first thought by a human being in the 20th century. It's a fool's illusion to think that . Philosophy is old old news. The Asians understand nothingness much better than we do and with more integrity. The Arabs are better Greek philosopher than we could ever hope to be. No one can deny the history of ideas as it has happened
