yes, in general, and for reasons doubtless having more to do with
fashion than with considered views on the matter,
people,do as you put it, 'hold the philosophy of Heidegger in
higher esteem than Sartre's.'
This is probably due to the fading of existentialism from the
scene of philosophical passion, but I imagine it might also
have to do with the relative simplicity of Sartre's thought.
A charge, whatever one thinks of Heidegger, and however one beats
one's brains out trying to parse his thought by means of the difference
between the english verbs is/has (as recent thickminded threads have
been to all appearances hell bent on doing), which cannot in
its turn be made of Heidegger.
Plus all the Nazi baiting has made the guy sexy again
in that negative way
