Akshardham Temple: No environmental appraisal of the impact of
construction of Akshardham Temple coming along the banks of the river
Yamuna in Delhi was conducted by the Environment and Forest Ministry,
Minister of State for Environment and Forest Namo Narain Meena told
the Lower House in a reply.

He said that 23.5 hectares were allotted to Bochaswani Akshar Sansthan
by the Delhi Development Authority for the construction of the temple
near Nizamuddin bridge.

However, as per the DDA, permission for temple construction was
granted after examining environmental implications based on the
Environmental Impact Assessment Study conducted by the National
Environmental Engineering Research Institute (Nagpur) and obtaining a
No-Objection Certificate from the Yamuna Standing Committee of the
Central Water Commission.
