Delhi garden gets global playing field

New Delhi, November 4

The Garden of Five Senses at Said-ul-Ajaib developed
by the Delhi Tourism and Transport Development
Corporation (DTTDC) is to be featured in the Saint
Etienne Biennale in France to be held from November 6.

The Saint Etienne Biennale brings together designers,
artists, graphic designers, architects and landscape
designers from about 80 countries to exhibit
innovative creations. There will be a series of
seminars and conferences during the biennale on a
range of design-related perspectives.

The Garden of Five Senses, spread across 20 acres and
commanding a majestic view of the Qutub Minar, was
paid a visit by officials from the city of Saint
Etienne earlier this year during their travel around
the world to select projects for the exhibition. The
aim of the biennale is to provide a window to 'unusual
innovations and cultural identities that bring the
colour of diversity and originality back to the world
being greyed out by globalisation strategies.'

The Garden, designed by Pradeep Sachdeva Design
Associates, is one of the largest commissions of
public art in India and has 25 traditional and modern
sculptures. It offers a variety of spaces to the
visitor including food court, speciality shops selling
natural products, solar energy park, amphitheatre and
theme gardens
