The National Water Policy-2002 envisages that Private Sector Participation should be encouraged in planning, development and management of water resources projects for diverse uses, wherever feasible which may help in introducing innovative ideas, generating financial resources and introducing corporate management and improving service efficiency and accountability to users. Delhi Jal Board has prepared a project proposal for public private partnership in a limited area for management of distribution system. In two zones of South Delhi, Delhi Jal Board proposes to award performance based management contracts through international competitive bidding. The assets shall completely remain with Delhi Jal Board. The revenue shall also remain with Delhi Jal Board and the employees shall continue to be Delhi Jal Board employees. It is only management of operations for which best management and expertise of private sector shall be harnessed to meet the pre-defined targets of improv
