Delhi Metro chief recommends BOT plan for Kochi Metro

Kochi: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation chief E Sreedharan
today recommended a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) plan
for the Rs 2,236-crore Kochi Metro Rail project, as
the Kerala Goverment reiterated its commitment to go
ahead with it.
Presenting the detailed project report before the
public here this evening, the DMRC managing director
gave a briefing on both the Delhi-model and BOT but
described the latter as more viable and efficient.
Presiding over the hearing, Chief Minister Oommen
Chandy said the Government was ready to invite
expressions of interest the very next day, depending
on consensus of the local people.
"Going by the vociferous support here by the
participants, I take it for granted that all have
welcomed the idea of metro," he said, adding, there
was no room for apprehension on financial constraints
for the project.
Answering the concerns raised by different
organisations and public figures including local MLAs,
he said the Government would take all views into
consideration and would not compromise on the quality
