Pioneer: Ordinance planned to keep bulldozers at bay

Along the lines of the Ulhaas Nagar ordinance brought
in by the Maharashtra Government, the Delhi Government
is also considering to bring in a law to keep the
bulldozers at bay... The panel constituted by the AICC
would have Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Union
Minister and Chandni Chowk MP Kapil Sibal, Delhi Urban
Development Minister Ashok Walia and Delhi Congress
president Rambabu Sharma as members. The meeting of
the coordination committee... was convened at the
behest of Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Sources in
the AICC told The Pioneer that the Sheila Cabinet
would approve the ordinance to save illegal
constructions and shops being run in residential areas
in a couple of days. Thereafter it would be sent to
the Lieutenant Governor for approval... Earlier in the
morning, Ms Dikshit met Mr Gehlot and reportedly
expressed her displeasure over the manner in which
Mayor Satbir Singh; leader of House of MCD Jitender
Kumar Kochchar and Standing Committee chairman Mukesh
Goel stormed her residence and warned her not to
interfere in the functioning of MCD...
