yesterday 16 jan, master plan public hearing was held at Vikas Sadan. Appeared to be last of the hearing since many of the DDA officials who had given comments were also invited.
On the dias were : VC- Chairman, AK Jain-convener, Virendera Kasana-member, KT Gurmukhi-member, VK Bugga-member? one more memebr I think the EM and on the side were sitting as members? were Addl comm and DIrector of the MPPR unit.
Amongst many objections/suggestions given by government organisations and others like, GNCTD -power, Director Sports-DDA, Director Landscape-DDA, Director-Zone O, DMRC, Lok Panchayat, Delhi FLour Mills, Oil Industry Representative, HR Suri representing someone from Lajpatrai market, Kingsway Camp, Steel Fabrication unit owner and representative of Mundaka Udyog Nagar, the DMRC suggestions were the ones quite interesting.
K.Srinath, Chief Planner was himself present with following suggestions:
Increase FAR of 150 along Metro Corridor to 300 (we were told that some of the stuff would be of interest to planners) with the rationale that FAR is based on holding capacity and transport is the most critical indicator of holding capacity. Metro has the capacity to carry 1.0 lakh passengers in one hour and currently we are using only 25% of this capacity.The increase will make metro more viable and then money will be available for further expansion.
Since DDA has asked to prepare comprehensive scheme along the corridor, this scheme should be prepared by the DDA as these areas have many small holdings. Till the plan is prepared individuals should be allowed to develop 150 FAR.
Parking norms along metro route should be reduced.
In our letter, we had asked for a rehearing in the presence of all concerned officials and MPISG which has already asked for rehearing. Chairman, on hearing us and reading the letter told Mr. Bugga, Chief Architect and the MCD representative to ask MCD Commissioner to convene a meeting with all concerned officials including DDA. No virus found in this outgoing message.
