NEW DELHI, JAN 19: The jinxed Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has hit
yet another roadblock, a la Qila Rai Pithora, on its way to the Qutab
Minar. After the Qutab, the Archeological Survey Of India (ASI) has now
objected to the construction of metro rail tracks near the area
surrounding the fort, stating that this would deface the 1000-year-old
monument?s landscape...
Jolted by the ASI?s reservations on the project, the DMRC is now carrying
out a separate detailed study of the area surrounding the fort. The DMRC
has also decided to rehabilitate the people residing in and around that
area, as the construction of the proposed elevated metro track would
dislodge many buildings and shanties there...

Delhi to Dublin: DMRC link
Irish Prime Minister Berti Ahern, on a visit to the metro on Thursday,
evinced interest in putting in place a transport system on the lines of
Delhi metro in Dublin. The prime minister was accompanied by three other
Irish ministers.
The DMRC is expected to prepare the DPR for the metro in Dublin city. "As
the DMRC technology is both modern and cheap, next only to the Honk Kong?s
metro rail, the Irish PM was really enthused by the idea of a replica of
our metro in Dublin, as that city has narrow roads that are always
congested," said DMRC chief public relations officer Anuj Dayal
