NEW DELHI: West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and his
predecessor Jyoti Basu are also in the dock over suspected misuse of
discretionary powers to allot land in Kolkata's upmarket Salt Lake area.
The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to the two CPM leaders on a PIL

R Lakhshmanan also issued notices to the state?s finance minister Asim
Dasgupta, urban development minister Ashok Bhattacharya and the chairman
of Salt Lake City Municipality.
Mukherjee alleged that discretionary quota was created by an illegal

community centres and hospitals were allotted arbitrarily to "undeserving"
persons.
