NEW DELHI: Delhi Finance and Public Works Department Minister A.K. Walia
on Wednesday disclosed that a whopping Rs.26,808 crore would be spent on
infrastructure development in Delhi in the run-up to the 2010 Commonwealth
Games in the Capital.

Talking to newsmen after chairing a meeting to finalise schemes under the
Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Dr. Walia said an
estimated Rs. 26,808 crore would be spent by different agencies on
infrastructure development such as construction of 25 flyovers, road
over-bridges, road under-bridges, tunnel roads, multi-level automated car
parking lots, low cost housing, development of roads, commissioning of High
Capacity Bus System, Light Rail Transit (LRT) System, Monorail, development
of Inter-State Bus Terminals, re-development of Connaught Place, old city
heritage area, augmentation of storm water drainage, water and sewerage
sectors, purchase of air-conditioned buses and improvement of stadiums.

The Delhi Government would spend Rs.6,209 crore under its State Plan for
development of infrastructure in Delhi before the Commonwealth Games.
