Living at the mercy of the merciless

It is wrong for hawkers to be at the mercy of corrupt
municipal officials and policemen

In an auditorium in Delhi, usually filled with the
sounds of classical music and dance, I heard the
voices, last week, of India?s poorest, bravest, most
exploited citizens. On the stage of the Kamani
Auditorium sat the Minister of Urban Affairs, Jaipal
Reddy, and he listened with full attention to the
heart breaking stories of injustice and brutality that
came from an audience of pavement hawkers and street
vendors that had come from all over India to attend
the latest public hearing organised by Manushi... ? A
government that claims to have come to power on the
votes of the ?aam aadmi? needs to start putting its
money where its mouth is. Are you listening Soniaji?
Are you listening Mr. Prime Minister?

| ofc they are listening, lady!
| how else did reddy come sit on dais for khaas ladies
| while baijal failed to appear in crt for aam
hawkers?
| how else does CVC ref for aam hawkers get lost in
PMO
| while khaas ladies letters become PM policy ?
| how else does aam hawkers' RTIappeal languish in CIC
| while CCS that adulates khaas ladies is CIC monitor?
| khaas log see khaas ladies as proxy for aam aadmi;
| the phenomenon is called deepening-democracy.
| (I believe it used to be called empowering-ladies)
