Re: Deleuze/Duchamp

>Who is Prigogine?
Ilya Prigogine was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1977
(clever boy). He is known for his work in nonequilibrium thermodynamics (aka
[sometimes]as chaos theory)and with Isabelle Stengers published "Order out
of Chaos" (Bantam, 1984). In the original French edition 'La Nouvelle
alliance' they refer to Deleuze (particularly Difference and Repetition).
Brian Massumi gives a delirious account of their work on dissipative
structures in the Habit section of 'A user's guide...'.=20
Guattari was also conversant with Prigogine and Stengers work and
was in contact with them from the 70's onwards. Isabelle Stengers most
recent book 'L'invention des sciences modernes (La Decouverte, 1993) is
dedicated in part to Guattari -"Pour F=E9lix Guattari et Bruno Latour, en
souvenir d'une rencontre qui n'a pas eu lieu.
