Infodesign: an Internet forum on information design

Information design is the visual design of presentations of
information. Good information designs are accessible, clear,
and understandable.

Application areas of information design include: maps,
diagrams, user instructions, forms, signs, infographics in
journals and books, computer interfaces, actually all visible
presentations of information.

INFODESIGN is set up as a forum to facilitate communication
within the international community of practitioners and
researchers interested in information design issues.

In concrete, infodesign is intended for the dissemination of:

- announcements and reports of international
information design MEETINGS and CONFERENCES

- announcements and reviews of information design
PUBLICATIONS

- contributions to DISCUSSIONS on information design
issues

Infodesign originated in a community of mainly cognitive
psychologists and graphic designers studying the design and
usability of static presentations of information.
Contributions on human-computer interaction are encouraged as
long as issues of information design are concerned that might
also be of interest to the majority of subscribers which are
not in the computer field, but in one of the other areas of
information design mentioned above.

Infodesign is NOT intended for technical questions concerning
graphics software.

To be able to eliminate mail that falls outside the scope of
infodesign, contributions will be posted only after approval
by the list owner/moderator. This process may lead to a
48-hour delay between submission and distribution.
